The railway authorities have completed the trial run (experimental train movement) of observing the rules through irregularities on November 11. Simultaneously the inspection was also completed by the Government Directorate of Inspection of Railways (GIBR). This trial run was conducted last Sunday (November 5) with 2925 series engines and 8 coaches (8/16). GIBR Chief Ruhul Quader Azad, Acting General Manager of Railway Eastern Zone Nazmul Islam, Project Director Subaktgin, Additional Project Director Kalam Chowdhury, Chief Engineer of Railway Eastern Zone Abu Zafar Mia and related senior officials were present on the occasion. Project Director. Subaktgin confirmed this.
Earlier on November 4, the authorities conducted tests on only the repaired Kalurghat bridge by running engines of 2200, 2900 and 3000 series.
According to railway sources, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar direct rail service on November 11. 2200 to 3000 series engines with 12 coaches will run regular trains. On this occasion, the railway authorities want to complete its trial run without following proper rules. On the condition of anonymity, several officials of the Railway Purbahchal said that a trial run should be done with the engines that will run regularly and that number of coaches. Initially, tests are conducted with relatively fewer coaches, coaches and engines of light weight, but before full operation, tests should be conducted with engines of equal size and performance. Because the weight varies according to the engine weight and number of coaches depending on the type. Then after trial with less weight, it will not be detected whether there will be any problem in the movement of the tray with more weight. Therefore, the test should not be conducted with any and old engine in less quantity. Many think that the participants may have been negligent in this regard. Since there are a lot of passengers in a train, if there is a problem, on the one hand, the suffering will increase and on the other hand, there will be a risk of life.
In this regard, the director of the Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar rail project. Subaktgin said, ‘For now the trial run has been completed, the inspection work is going on. This railway line will be launched commercially after they give the certificate. Regarding the low number of old engines and coaches, he said that a set is in Chittagong to verify it, and will leave for Cox’s Bazar tomorrow (Tuesday). But it cannot be called a trial run, it will be brought to Cox’s Bazar through Pahara.’
To know about this, the Acting General Manager of Eastern Railway Md. Nazmul Islam’s official mobile number could not be answered as no response was received.
It should be noted that the project of 100 km railway line from Chittagong to Cox’s Bazar was implemented at a cost of 18 thousand 34 crore 47 lakhs. On April 3, 2011, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone for the meter gauge railway construction up to Dohazari-Ramu-Cox’s Bazar. Among them, 88 km from Chittagong’s Dohazari to Ramu and 12 km from Ramu to Cox’s Bazar. Initially, the cost of this project was estimated at 1 thousand 852 crores. In 2016, the project proposal was amended and the cost increased.
