Now, only a ticket counter is being opened in a room on the ground floor of the iconic station building and ticket sales are being carried out among passengers. In the meantime, a proposal to extend the project period has been sent to the Rail Bhaban from the Cox’s Bazar Railway Line Project Director’s office.
Meanwhile, the Dohazari – Cox’s Bazar railway line project is expiring on September 30 of this month . The project cost is estimated at Tk 18,340 million to construct a 125-kilometer railway line from Dohazari to Ghumdhum via Ramu in Cox’s Bazar. Of this, Tk 15,476 million was spent on the construction of the 101-kilometer railway line from Dohazari to Ghumdhum in Teknaf. The remaining 24-kilometer railway line from Ramu to Ghumdhum in Teknaf has not been constructed due to Myanmar’s objections. The possibility of its construction is also slim. Of this, the construction of Bangladesh’s first iconic railway station building in the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar at a cost of Tk 215 million has not yet been fully completed. Work is still underway inside and outside the iconic railway station building. The station building was built by Bangladeshi contractor Max Infrastructure Limited in collaboration with Chinese contractor China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation ( CCECC ) . The construction work will take another month to complete, said Engineer Md . , the project director of the railway’s much-awaited project. Subaktagin. He told Azadi yesterday , the Dohazari – Cox’s Bazar railway construction project is valid until September 30. It will take another month to complete the work of the iconic railway station. The work is almost at the final stage. Now the finishing work is going on. However, the project period may be extended by another one or two months.
Dohazari – Cox’s Bazar Railway Project ( Iconic Station Building ) Manager Md . Abdul Jaber Milon said , the ground floor of the iconic station building has been handed over long ago. The initial activities are ongoing there. And the work of the remaining 2nd to 6th floors is in the final stage. Now the last-minute finishing work is going on. Once the full work of the iconic station is completed, Bangladesh Railway will hand over the station to a third party and start the full operations of the station, the company under construction has said.
The Dohazari – Cox’s Bazar railway line was inaugurated on November 11, 2023. And the first passenger train service in the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar began on December 1. Currently, two intercity trains and one special train are operating on this route. The most attractive thing about the Dohazari – Cox’s Bazar railway line project for people across the country is the first iconic railway station in Bangladesh in the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar, with five-star hotel facilities. Although the project is nearing its end, the work on the iconic railway station has not yet been completed.
