Another train on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route from January 1, 2024

Bangladesh Railway has decided to run another train on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route from the first day of the new year to meet the demand of tourists.

Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said in a press conference at Railway Bhaban on Wednesday that the train will leave Dhaka at 6:30 am and reach Cox’s Bazar at 3 pm. The train will leave Cox’s Bazar at 8 pm and reach Dhaka at 4:30 am.

“‘We will send a summary to the Prime Minister with several proposed train names and with the Prime Minister’s permission we will start a new train on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route from January.”

Bangladesh Railway said, three names have been proposed for this new train. One is ‘Palangki’, the ancient name of Cox’s Bazar. Besides, the name of this train can be kept as ‘Tarang Express’ and ‘Prabal Express’.

‘Cox’s Bazar Express’ has started passenger transport on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route from December 1.

Bangladesh Railway says that train travel on Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar route has received incredible response from tourists. In view of this, a proposal came from the office of the General Manager of Eastern Railway to the office of the Additional Director General (Operations) on Wednesday to run one more train on this route. There, permission is sought to run another train from January 1 next year.

It said that due to the demand of tourists, another new train can be operated on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route. This train will be operated with new coaches brought from Korea. This train will have 16 coaches, which will have a total of 780 seats.

Director General of Bangladesh Railway. Kamrul Ahsan told bdnews24.com, “A rough decision has been taken that another train will run between Cox’s Bazar and Dhaka from January 1.”

According to the proposal of Bangladesh Railway, train number 815 will leave Cox’s Bazar at 8 pm and reach Chittagong at 10:50 pm. It will leave from there at 11:15 PM and reach Dhaka at 4:30 AM.

On the other hand, train number 816 will leave Dhaka’s Kamalapur at 6:15 am. The train will reach the airport station at 6:38 am. The train will depart at 6:43 am with a five minute break; Will reach Chittagong at 11:20 am.

This new train will leave Chittagong at 11:40 AM and reach Cox’s Bazar at 3:00 PM with a 20-minute break. This train will be closed on Sundays during the week.
