Railway Secretary Humayun Kabir said that the Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar rail link will be opened in October after the flood-damaged railways are repaired quickly. He said this on Friday morning after visiting the damaged railway in Satkania of Chittagong. The railway secretary said that the damaged railway line will be repaired soon after sitting with the technical team. The Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar railway will be officially launched in the last week after the trial run in the first week of October after completion of all works in September. The railway secretary said that the amount of culvert-bridge that was placed at the beginning of the project was more than the demand of the locals and said, if necessary, we will make some more culverts, so that the water is not blocked in the future.
Director General of Railways Quamrul Ahsan, Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar Railway Project Director Mohammad Mofizur Rahman and others were present during the inspection. Recently, the under construction Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar railway line has been damaged by the severe floods in Satkania. In different parts of Satkania, soil and rocks have moved from under the railway line.
