Coxbazar Train Tourism

Train and Cox’s Bazar Tourism

Train service is starting from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar. And with that, the movement of tourists going to Cox’s Bazar will begin. Drishtinandan railway station has been built in Cox’s Bazar. Along with the train service, Jazafi is talking about the potential and crisis to take the tourism of Cox’s Bazar to the level of advanced industry.

Cox’s Bazar is the main tourist city of the country. Travelers choose Cox’s Bazar as their first choice for sightseeing. A new chapter has been created in the communication system of the country as Dhaka’s railway connection with Cox’s Bazar has been started. Income in the tourism sector will also increase. Employment will also increase.
In economic terms, if the supply increases, the price should decrease.

Since trains are the major means of communication, it can be assumed that a large number of tourists will choose the railway to travel to and from Cox’s Bazar. If this happens, the number of passengers in buses and airplanes will be greatly reduced. As a result, there will be no way to retain bus and air passengers except by reducing fares. Many old or young people cannot travel long distances by bus. Apart from this, long and tiring journeys are also reluctance among many.

You can walk by train. Tea coffee can be consumed. Toilets are available, picnics are available to enjoy the view outside. Apart from this, according to the calculations given by the authorities, the fare of the train will be almost half of the bus or a little less. As a result, the railway authority will get passengers on this route throughout the year compared to other routes in the country and if the service is properly provided, the railway will get good income. But the quality of service must be ensured.

Along with these possibilities there are also some dangers. If the number of tourists increases, there will be no shortage of space in hotels and motels. This can be capitalized on to increase hotel and motel rents. At the same time, other service sectors such as food, hotels, essential goods, local car rental are all likely to increase. The balance of the natural environment may be disturbed.

The rate of environmental pollution may increase. Along with this, the crime rate in the beach area may also increase and the beach environment may also be damaged. The beauty of the beach can be spoiled by the arrival of more tourists than its carrying capacity. On the other hand, taking into account the fact that public transport fares are reduced or passengers are reduced after the train starts, a cycle can take terrible decisions.

And that could be diverting people from the train. For this, incidents like pelting stones on trains can also happen. On the other hand, ticket brokers may become active. A large part of the economy of many countries in the world depends on tourism. Mauritius, Thailand, Indonesia, Bhutan, Maldives are among them. The traffic of tourists in those countries is very high because they have been able to take tourism to the level of industry.

Thousands of tourists from Bangladesh are going to those countries every year. Our tourist centers do not have the same service and environment that tourists get in those countries. As a result, not only foreign tourists, but also domestic tourists lost interest to come here. Domestic tourists who have financial support also go abroad.

So what we call the tourism industry, even though the word tourism is there, there is not much of an industry. Only if it can be taken to industrial level, this sector can become very profitable and the country can benefit a lot from this sector. Enviable foreign exchange can also be earned. In that case, transportation fare, hotel fare should be controlled. Even though there is news about these things, it is not seen that action is being taken as expected.

This sector can become a huge potential only if the security system is strengthened to control these irregularities. Apart from this, Cox’s Bazar has no entertainment other than the beach. There are no cineplexes, multiplexes, children’s parks or other entertainment centers to mention. As a result, local and foreign tourists are easily disappointed and lose interest when they come here.

Even in the current situation, the government is getting hundreds of crores of rupees per month from Cox’s Bazar. But compared to that, tourists think that the government does not have much facilities. The condition of mobile and internet network is also very weak in the beach area. Even if they want to, they cannot show the sea to their loved ones left at home by video call or live. But the entire zone can be made a free wifi zone.

If 1000 routers are installed in this three to four kilometer area from Labani point to Kalatali point and if each one costs 1000 taka per month, then the monthly cost of internet will be 10 lakh taka. Where the government is getting hundreds of crores of rupees a month in revenue, this expenditure on tourists is very little. The lights in the beach area provide much less light than needed.

The beach would be safer and more attractive if the area could be lit up. Even the cost in all these cases can be met by the government through local businessmen. Only initiative is needed. Battery powered rickshaws or tomtoms are the only means of transportation in this city. But there is no restriction on its rent. From whom he can take as much as possible. Tourists are held hostage.

30 to 40 kilometers of battery-powered TomTom is charged 800 to 1200 taka! They demand 150 to 200 rupees for the journey of five kilometers. It takes only 10 to 12 minutes for them to reach there. If these cannot be controlled, tourism in Cox’s Bazar will never reach the level of a developed industry with only train services.
